Formerly known as the Birmingham Half Marathon the event was first staged in staged in 2008, and in 2009 also incorporated the World Half Marathon Championships. England's second city is the perfect stage for the event which attracts competitors from across the UK and around the world. Why this event? We have decided to run the Birmingham half marathon this year to raise money and awareness for Bpositive & Cystic Fibrosis. The distance is 13.1 miles & it's the biggest half marathon in the Midlands. Some of us have run it before and for some, it's the first time! Why Bpositive? By Nicola Langdell After seeing what Bpositive have achieved so far, what they stand for, and some of the amazing and challenging events that are yet to come it has inspired us to do something to support such a great cause! We are also raising money for Cystic Fibrosis. This is to support another great cause and specifically the team at Birmingham children's hospital who have provided lots of support to our friends/family in the last few months. Anything you can donate to these two great causes is much appreciated by us all!
