I have blood blisters all over my feet and other unmentionable body complaints. I have trained in rain, wind, hail and sandstorms and of course sunshine which is by far my favourite training condition. Last Friday, I pushed myself to do a 10 mile run. It was raining and windy and cold and I am thankful that I had one of my friends alongside me because if it hadn’t been for her I would have stopped – it was so hard! I’m conscious that so far I have been mostly running on the flat, but the course I will be taking for the half marathon takes in some of the delightfully hilly Fylde coast countryside, so I will be stepping it up and doing some more runs on an incline – can’t wait! So with a week and a bit to go until the 10k, my running number arrived yesterday and I am trying to fit in some training alongside one of the busiest times of the year at work.
I am away for the majority of next week so more than a little concerned about how I will fare come Sunday, but all I can do is my best (and if I smash an hour whilst doing it I will be over the moon!).
As hard as it’s been so far, it’s for a great cause and the thought of all the people I am helping is what keeps me going. So if you haven’t already, please do sponsor me. Anything you can contribute would be so appreciated.
I’ll update you following the race next week...
