Why these challenges? By Kristy
I don’t really know!! I started running sporadically about two years ago and it’s not something I enjoy or that I am particularly good at, so that in itself will be a big challenge for me. The even bigger challenge is the Skydive. Anyone who knows me knows how absolutely petrified I am of flying, never mind going up in a small plane with propellers and then jumping out of it! Saying that, maybe the jumping out part will be a relief to me, who knows. Either way, these events represent both mental and physical challenges that on their own are massive achievements, but the three together will hopefully encourage people to dig a little deeper and support this fantastic cause.
Why Bpositive ?
Hartley Taylor have been supporters of Bpositive right from the start. Working for Hartley Taylor and Bpositive has raised my awareness of the great work that they are trying to do in engaging and supporting people diagnosed with, or connected to someone who has acute leukaemia. I feel proud to have been a small part of their fantastic journey and want to help support the charity in any way that I can.
On a personal level, a brave family member of mine is currently recovering from a stem cell transplant to try and treat her leukaemia and her difficult journey has inspired me to undertake this challenge. Bpositive are doing fantastic work in pushing forward for charitable status and there is no doubt that the support they offer is invaluable to people fighting this disease. I have been lucky enough to meet with some of the people who have benefited from Bpositive’s patient group meetings, and the ability to share their experiences of what can be a very lonely journey with others who are going through the same thing is so important. I hope that in some small way, the monies we will raise will help Bpositive to continue their good work for many years to come.
