UK Adult ALL Patient Group

Details:
To meet, hear from and talk to other Adult ALL patients. To find out about new developments in treatments, other new initiatives and ask questions of doctors and clinical nurse specialists. To ask questions and gain a better understanding of issues for Adult ALL patients. To consider other opportunities and ways to establish an on-going Adult ALL patient community.

Topics to include:

Morning session: Late Effects in ALL


  • Life after 3 years of ALL treatment
  • Patient stories round the room
  • What to expect as longer term effects from ALL
  • Understanding and awareness of late effects
    - Fatigue
    - Infection
    - Heart, Eyes, Lungs, Thyroid
    - Second cancers
    - Bones

Afternoon session: Complimentary health services available
  • Physiotherapist topic
  • Psychotherapist topic – emotional support
  • Dietician & Nutritionalist
  • Long term approaches to support from the NHS

Support Infrastructure
  • Internet approaches to information - beware
  • B Positive support and outlook for 2014
